President of http://neltnerlabs.com
I use my small shop consulting firm to help people build prototypes.
I have a PhD in materials science, did a postdoc in chemical engineering, and have been design control boards and measurement systems for over a decade as a consultant.
I build research equipment at MIT for part of my work to do measurements no one has done before. It's super fun.
I specialize at translating scientist into engineering spec for new graduates wanting to do a startup. I can help you figure out what you really need and how to get there, I will help you find and train your first employees to use the prototype I make and do your tests, and I will help you write your grant proposals to make them stronger.
I don't expect equity, I don't expect long-term work, I like the early stuff and find it hugely rewarding to take a science project into engineering and I know that the lingo just does not match across fields.
I want to make your company strong enough for me to leave with such a smooth transition that no one notices they haven't needed to send me a panicked email in months. I want them to be totally confident and feel complete ownership of the prototype, even if I conceptualize, design, program, and fabricate it myself :-)
